Cruising from North America’s ports is an easy option for citizens of the US and Canada. Many times driving to a port in the US is an option and air travel is minimal from most US locations.
Usual ports on the west coast include San Diego, Los Angels, San Francisco, Seattle and in Canada, Vancouver. On the East Coast New York, Boston and Baltimore are the most popular northern ports. Charleston, SC has a few sailings several times a year. Florida, the cruising capital, has ports in Jacksonville, Port Canaveral (Orlando), Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and Tampa. New Orleans and Galveston are home ports for western Caribbean cruises. There are several ports that are used occasionally in Mexico and Central America.
Choosing a departure port is one of the most important decisions made before deciding on a cruise plan. Often times, though, the departure is determined by the itinerary you desire.
Our agency can help in your port decisions. We can help with your air choices and schedules. Choosing an air schedule that will allow you ample time to board the cruise ship is a VERY IMPORTANT part of cruise planning. The ship will depart at the posted time, even if you are not at the dock with ample time to check in. In this day and age, we are strongly recommending that you plan to arrive at the departure city a day early, spend the night at a hotel and go to the ship in the late morning the next day. Not only are you rested when you board the ship, but you also escape the “nerve racking” chance of a late arrival.

Most of the cruise line companies now have hotel packages for pre and post stays. Many times though, our agents can arrange independent hotels, transfers and tours that will add more value to your travel dollar. This, however, is an individual item and our agents will carefully compare the hotel options for your travel budget.
