Halong Bay Vietnam

Many of the major cruise lines have port stops in the countries of Asia, but our favorite cruise in Vietnam and Cambodia is a river cruise that can be combined with a land package.

Vietnam, slightly larger than Italy, is blessed with natural beauty and a survival instinct that has seen it survive through a millennium of Chinese rule, a century of French imperialism, a uprising that split the country in two, a prolonged conflict with the US and a reunification in 1975 followed by a period of exodus.    Today the country, in spite of its memories for many Americans, remains one of the most intriguing and dynamic in all of Asia.  There is not one of our clients who have traveled there that does not return with a “thank you” to us for making this a choice in their cruising/land travel history.
From its busy capital of Hanoi to the spectacular Ha Long Bay in the Gulf of Tonkin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the teeming metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam offers an eclectic mixture of cultural influences and history.

Included in this 7 night cuise aboard a deluxe ship with ou outside staterooms + land extensions is the “treasure trove country of Cambodia”.
Sharing a border with Thailand, Laos and Vietname Cambodia hold its own distinct riches.  Unlike Vietnam, which fell under the spell of China and France, Cambodia has its history of robust trade with India and its influences of Buddhism and Hinduism.  The Khmer people have inhabited the region since the beginning of recorded time and at one time controlled the largest city in the pre-industrial world.  Today the country is primarialy agrarian.  A generation after the Khmer Rouge era in the 1970’s, Cambodia is today a resurgent nation drawing international visitors eager to explore the wealth of treasures from a great ancient empire.
The jewel of Cambodia is Angor which served as the capital of the Khmer Empire which at one time stretched in what is now Thialand and Northern Vietnam.  The UNESCO  concentration of temples near the city of S iem Reap draws nearly 2 million visitors a year.  The most legendary temple in this area is Angor Wat.
Many of our clients combine this cruise/land experience with an extension to Hong Kong, a city not to be missed in your Asian experince.
